Cinco de Mayo Celebration

The Learning Council, in collaboration with the Migrant Rural Coalition, sponsored and attended the City of Delta’s second annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, which featured traditional dance from Danza Azteca and Folklorica Dancers, DJs, live music, and other assorted festivities. We’re grateful to have been able to collaborate with Delta and the MRC to celebrate Mexican Culture and the diversity in our county.

Shortly following Cinco de Mayo, the City of Delta crafted a “non-sanctuary proclamation.” The Learning Council and Migrant Rural Coalition are committed to creating safety and welcome for migrants and all other members of the community. Moving forward, we will collaborate with other nonprofits and government entities to maintain and expand resources for all.

Stay tuned for Festival Agrícola September 13th in Olathe, where we will be celebrating agricultural workers and Mexican heritage.
