Voces del Campo Conferencia de Liderazgo took place at Delta Middle School on June 8, 2025
TLC proudly collaborated with The Western Slope Migrant and Rural Coalition, Colorado Department of Agriculture, La Plaza, Julissa Soto, and the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment to host a full-day conference dedicated to empowering and uniting rural farm workers.
The conference was conducted in Spanish with interpretation available, ensuring accessibility for all. Sessions covered topics like how to start a business, navigate homeownership, access healthcare, and understand your rights as both agricultural workers and immigrants.
We were honored to welcome State Representative Elizabeth Velasco from District 57 as our keynote speaker. As the first Latina and first LGBTQ+ legislator from the Western Slope in Colorado’s House of Representatives, her lunchtime address was both motivational and beautiful, an unforgettable highlight of the day.
Our heartfelt thanks go to Delta Middle School for opening their doors to us, and to the 83 participants who brought the day to life with their energy and presence.
On-site, attendees could access health services from River Valley Family Health Centers and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), alongside valuable resources from more than 10 statewide service providers, including The Learning Council.
Voces del Campo was the vision of Angeles Mendez and Aldo Perra. With the support of many dedicated collaborators, these two community leaders launched something truly special! A vibrant and practical resource for Colorado’s migrant worker community. The conference is set to travel to other agricultural hubs in the coming years, with Greeley, Colorado on the schedule for 2026.
We are so thankful to every presenter, collaborator, and participant who made this event possible. Our agricultural communities are rich with heart, resilience, and culture—and we gratefully acknowledge and celebrate the essential work, service and spirit of farm workers.
