LBGTQ+ Resources

Fostering LGBTQ+ Inclusion and Advocacy in the North Fork Valley

LGBTQ+ individuals in rural communities face unique challenges. The Learning Council creates spaces where everyone can belong, thrive, and be celebrated for who they are.

Support, Community & Resources

  • Safe Spaces & Support Networks

We create welcoming environments where LGBTQ+ individuals can express themselves freely, find community, and access peer support. Our diversity library in The Hearth, pride flags throughout Paonia, and resource presence at cultural events signal that LGBTQ+ people belong here and have support networks ready to embrace them.

  • DC CARES (Delta County Coalition Advocating for Radically Equitable Spaces)

Our coalition advances safety and inclusion for systemically excluded communities through education, policy advocacy, and equity work across Delta County.

  • Health & Vitality Council

Comprehensive education on sexual health, physical, mental and spiritual wellness, with programs specifically tailored to LGBTQ+ needs and the diverse realities of rural life.

  • Educational Workshops

Sessions on LGBTQ+ rights, health, advocacy strategies, defense and allyship that empower individuals and educate the broader community.

Celebration & Visibility

Pride Events

Annual pride celebrations, cultural showcases, and public conversations that honor LGBTQ+ identities and build community solidarity.

Allyship Training

We equip community members with skills to become active, informed allies thus expanding the circle of support beyond the LGBTQ+ community itself.

Our Impact

TLC staff are trained in LGBTQ+ Safe Zone protocols, gender-diverse cultural awareness, understanding gender minority stress, comprehensive sexual education, and creating environments of true belonging. This training translates into safer spaces, better resources, and a community that stands together in the face of adversity.

Through our work, we're increasing visibility, deepening understanding, and ensuring LGBTQ+ individuals in the North Fork Valley know they are valued, supported, and never alone.

Looking forward: launching GSA, community access to health and wellness opportunities through the Cottonwood Health Clinic
