NFSIS 4th Graders Bring the Joy of Spring to the TLC Kitchen
On Monday, May 19th, the TLC Kitchen was buzzing with energy and creativity as the 4th grade students from NFSIS joined us for a day of hands-on-cooking.
Together, we prepared a colorful and nourishing feast that celebrated the vibrant flavors of the season. The menu featured comforting lentil soup, crispy latkes with applesauce, freshly baked pita bread, a bright Greek salad, tangy sun-dried tomato pesto and creamy beet hummus. Every dish reflected the energy, curiosity and playful spirit the 4th grades brought with them. The results were both beautiful and delicious.
We had a joyful time cooking side by side, learning about seasonal ingredients and exploring the ways food connects us to each other and the earth. Many of the herbs used in the meal were harvested just steps away from our ever evolving sanctuary garden at The Hearth. This special garden space, growing in the area where we recently pulled up the old road base is quickly becoming a place of nourishment and inspiration.
A big thank you to the NFSIS 4th grade students for their enthusiasm, teamwork and adventurous palates. Your presence filled the kitchen with laughter, learning and love. We’re already looking forward to next time!
