Excerpts from Shoutout Colorado’s conversation with the 2021 Arbol Farmers Market team.
Q: Is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
A: In our industry, there is a unique experience being held of all farmers coming together. But that for each farmer and producer, there is a body of work that goes from seed to sale that is a process requesting months of work before it even appears at the farmer’s booth. From ordering seeds in the winter, planting in February, harvesting, weeding and selling throughout season. There are many hands and resources that go into the process.
Q: Let’s talk shop – what can you share with our community?
A: Like other groups doing farmers markets, we really respond to the community needs and that makes for a variety of branches of our work. We get to have a lot of fun in our service, including the dance and movement classes, getting people of all ages involved, working with farmers in food equity and ensuring people get the highest quality food and advocating for underrepresented populations and working towards the kind of world we want to live in.
Q: Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A: We want to share out shout out to all of the Farmers, Ranchers and Producers at the Arbol Farmers Market! They are the heart of the market and they make it possible for our community to eat local, organic, quality foods and support local and sustainable agriculture!
